Incoming Azzurri Coach Giampiero Ventura bids farewell to Torino with an open letter.

After five years with the Granata, the 68-year-old has been offered a position to follow on Antonio Conte's footsteps on the bench of the Nazionale.

“The time has come to bid farewell,” he wrote, in a letter published on Torino's official site. “I leave Torino because, as in all of life's best cycles, I realise that one of them has come to an end.

“We had fun together and above all else we built something very solid, safe and lasting. Now the moment has come, in everyone's best interest and above all to improve on what has been done, to find room for new incentives.

“This is a difficult moment for me because leaving is painful and because, in spite of all my experience, there is a moment that I still cannot train people for: that of saying goodbye.

“This one is even harder than all the others because it comes after five years in which we've given everything to each other, mutually and without ever holding back.”

Ventura's letter then goes on to thank extensively everyone involved with Torino, from the players and the staff to the city itself.

“I'll never forget you and I hope from the bottom of my heart that you'll never forget about me.

“I wish you all the success that this club, this fan-base and these colours deserve.”
