Inter defender Zinho Vanheusden says he’s working “to be ready for next season” after his cruciate ligament injury.

The Belgian was to be the fourth-choice centre-back for Luciano Spalletti’s side, but he snapped his cruciate ligament in November.

January saw the youngster move on loan to Standard Liege to continue his recovery, but his aim is to be ready for the Nerazzurri next season.

“I am in the fifth month of rehabilitation,” Venheusden explained to RTBF.

“I’m running long distances now and cautiously making changes of direction, if everything goes well I can resume training with the group in a month.

“My first objective isn’t the play-offs, I want to be ready for next season and everything that comes before that is a bonus.

“My father had the same injury and told me that I would come back stronger, as did Inter Coach Luciano Spalletti.”
