The Italian Coach surprised everyone by handing in his irrevocable resignation on Friday, just three months after taking the Liga job.
It’s reported in Italy that the main reason behind his decision was a poor relationship with director of sport ‘Suso’ Jesus Garcia Pitarch and consequent disagreements over transfer strategy.
This morning Pitarch and Executive Director Anil Murthy held a joint Press conference, but did not hold back on attacking Prandelli.
“Prandelli gave up on Valencia and was just looking for an excuse to walk away,” declared Murthy.

Pitarch confirmed he too had offered his resignation, which was rejected by the club, after this shock turnaround.
“Prandelli never told us any specific names to strengthen the team. Before resigning, he did ask for five players, but did not request any names. He wanted a striker, two midfielders, a left-back and after Mangala’s injury also a centre-back.
“John Obi Mikel and Simone Zaza could’ve been signed easily, but we could only afford one. Prandelli asked us for 24 hours to choose.”
