The midfielder was specifically requested by new Partenopei Coach Maurizio Sarri after their time together at the Stadio Castellani.
“After two years in Serie B we stepped up into Serie A and proved our quality,” Valdifiori told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
“I am happy with how things went and will remember this year for a lifetime, especially the icing on the cake of my Italy debut.
“On Monday there should be a meeting between the Presidents of Empoli and Napoli. I am waiting for this moment, because the clubs need to find an agreement first and only afterwards will I be called to discuss terms.
“Being linked with Napoli is an honour. I am proud of what I’ve done so far and we’ll see what the future holds. I hope for this step up in my career.”
Valdifiori has been compared to Andrea Pirlo for his playing style, but has scored only four goals in all competition.
“I should go for the finish more often, but I tend to go for the assist instead. There’s only one Pirlo in the world. I just tried to do my best and maybe steal a few ideas from him.
“My role is about bringing balance to the side, so I always go for the pass. Perhaps I should be a bit more determined and run with the ball.
“Sarri is very focused on tactics, so I can’t really wander around the field too much.”
