The Elefantini are propping up the Serie A standings after just two wins, three draws and nine defeats.

Today up to 1,000 supporters descended on the Torre del Grifo training camp for a protest, calling the players ‘mercenaries’ and urging the President to suspend their wages.

The ultras jeered at every mistake in the training session and repeatedly threw fireworks, smoke bombs and even bins on to the training pitch.

After an hour of this protest, the fans dissipated, though a few tried to confront players in the car park.
