Udinese assistant manager Fabio Viviani hailed his side’s never say die spirit. “Not everyone can play like this at Roma.”
The Giallorossi had conceded only two goals at the Olimpico in 13 home games this season, but squeezed past Udinese 3-2 tonight with several crucial Morgan De Sanctis saves too.
“It was a great performance,” said Viviani on Mediaset, who spoke to the media because Francesco Guidolin is suffering from flu.
“Not everyone can play like this away to Roma, scoring two goals and creating many more opportunities.
“Perhaps in previous years we’d have won a game like this without creating as many chances, but it’s an unlucky campaign.
“We came to Rome in order to play open and attacking football, despite the fact every point is precious in the table.
“We never gave up and had the chance to snatch a result right at the death, which would’ve been deserved.”
There were protests at the final whistle, as the referee finished the game as Udinese were about to take a corner.
“There was a little time-wasting and we hoped the referee would at least allow us to take the corner, but it all passed over quickly.”
