Lorenzo Insigne has no regrets about being picked for the European Under-21 Championship rather than the Confederations Cup.

While Cesare Prandelli’s side are out in Brazil, the Napoli attacker has helped the Azzurrini reach the Final of Israel 2013.

“I decided along with the Coach that playing here would be better for my development,” Insigne, capped once by Prandelli, noted ahead of tonight’s tie with Spain.

“I am very happy I have come here with my friends and made it to the Final,” added the attacking talent.

“The Under-21 set-up helps you to grow and leads you towards the full side.”

Devis Mangia has masterminded the Azzurri’s progress this month, but Insigne has remembered former tactician Ciro Ferrara – the man who gave him his U-21 debut.

“We have invested a lot of work to make it this far, so thanks to Ferrara and to our current Coach.

“The strength of this team is not any individual player but the whole team, all 23 players, and we always feel united.”

Ferrara quit last summer to take over at Sampdoria, a club who then fired him in December.
