Giovanni Trapattoni has rejected speculation that Milan could turn to him if they decide to axe boss Massimiliano Allegri.
The veteran tactician, 74, is available for hire after he left his post as the Republic of Ireland boss in September.
“It is fantasy football,” Trap told Milan News when asked about the possibility of taking the San Siro hotseat.
“Under this particular aspect, Allegri can stay very calm. There is no truth in the stories.”
The Diavolo have had a shaky start to the campaign seeing as they have collected just 11 points from their first 12 League games of the season. They have lost three of their last five.
“I understand the fans who have been used to success,” Trap, who bossed Milan in the 1970s, stated. “But Milan are a solid club and they have won everything in recent years.
“There needs to be some patience, some belief in boss Massimiliano Allegri and Vice-President Adriano Galliani.
“Better times will come, the side has started the season in a certain manner but it is important that they stay on the right path until February and March.
“There is a storm at sea right now, but there are some excellent sailors at the club.”
