A Bayern Munich delegation was in Turin on Monday to finalise a move for Juventus central defender Matthijs de Ligt.

However, it appears no deal could be struck. That is unlikely to mean the end of negotiations, though, with Bayern expected to come back with a higher offer.

In the meantime, the Bianconeri are lining up a replacement and there have been links with Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, Arsenal’s Gabriel and Torino’s Gleison Bremer.

Koulibaly, meanwhile, has also emerged as a target for Chelsea, who appear to have missed out on No. 1 desire De Ligt.

Elsewhere, Roma boss José Mourinho said he is “frustrated” with this his side’s lack of transfer activity, but did suggest it was nothing too serious.

Across the city, Lazio could confirm the signing of Alessio Romagnoli from Milan.

There is also the latest on the future on Inter defender Milan Škriniar, who remains a target for Paris Saint-Germain, as well as Paulo Dybala and Roma midfielder Nicolò Zaniolo.
