Journalist Florian Plettenberg claims Roberto De Zerbi is one of Bayern Munich’s alternatives to Xabi Alonso, but the Brighton coach is ‘highly regarded’ at Barcelona too.

De Zerbi is under contract at Brighton until June 2026, but some of the best clubs in Europe have been linked with securing his services in the summer.

After Liverpool and Barcelona, Bayern Munich are also considering the Italian tactician as their potential new coach in 2024-25.

Sky Sport Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg says on X, formerly Twitter, that the Bundesliga giants are monitoring De Zerbi, even if the ex-Sassuolo boss is not their primary target.

According to the report, Xabi Alonso tops the Bavarians’ wishlist for next season, but if a deal with their ex-midfielder falls apart, then De Zerbi would be one of the first options considered.

According to Plettenberg, new Bayern Munich Board Member for Sport Max Eberl ‘has a very positive opinion’ of De Zerbi.

The German transfer expert confirms that De Zerbi is also wanted by Barcelona and is ‘highly regarded’ at Camp Nou.
