Tottenham’s sights are set on a number of Serie A players as they work to rescue their January transfer window.

Coach Antonio Conte had hoped for some reinforcements to arrive in North London this month but so far he has been left empty handed, with links to Wolves’ Adama Traore and Porto’s Luis Diaz failing to lead to a signing. Sporting director Fabio Paratici believes that the right reinforcements now lay in his homeland, Italy.

Tottenham are currently in talks with Juventus for Swedish forward Dejan Kulusevski, with the two parties now working to find an agreement. Spurs want a loan deal with a €30m buy option attached, whilst the Bianconeri would prefer it to be an obligation to buy clause set at €35m.

The Lillywhites are also heavily linked with a move for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, and they reportedly offered Giovani Lo Celso in exchange, although that failed to convince the Viola. Negotiations are still underway.

Paratici registered interest in Juventus’ Rodrigo Bentancur as well, but they weren’t willing to add an obligation to buy clause to a loan deal for the player, cooling off their approach.

Other Serie A players that Spurs have been linked to include Alvaro Morata, Hellas Verona’s Antonin Barak, and Milan’s Franck Kessie, showing how Tottenham and Paratici believe that Serie A is the right place to find their January reinforcements.
