The Ducali are in crisis, with wages going unpaid, and a new board taking over just two months after Rezart Taci bought the club.

The AIC President has previously spoken of his concern that the situation could lead to match-fixing, and re-iterated those fears in an interview with Radio Anch’io Sport.

“The players need to be protected,” Tommasi declared.

“We don’t want to leave room for the slightest suspicion, I think it’s fair to raise the level of attention we’re paying to this situation.

“We can’t let people come into our system to conduct their business.

“The situation is constantly changing, we’re in the dark. 15 days ago we [the AIC] met the President, two weeks ago the team. Now there’s a new owner.

“The team expects answers which have not yet arrived, we know that the deadline [to pay wages] is February 16.

“We expect news on the monthly losses of the club, and they could also be deducted points which would further jeopardise the team’s position.

“If they went under during the current season, there would be problems, and also if they were unable to register for next season.

“The situation is worrying, because we’re talking about an established Serie A side with assured income, it’s not clear how it was possible to get to this point.

“You have to think it reflects on how the club was run and managed. The club can’t only be entrusted to private interests, there’s a whole environment to support a club.

“The main problem is that those who want to take over don’t yet know all of the debts.

“There’s not even any guarantee that the new ownership will know what to do from here on out. There’s the spectre of relegation, it’s not easy to move forward in this situation.

“We’re talking about a club which in the last five or six years in Serie A has grossed about €400m.

“Parma does not just belong to the current President, but to the entire local community.”
