The Federation has been without a President since Carlo Tavecchio stepped down, with Roberto Fabbricini appointed as commissioner in February.
It had been hoped that elections would be called today, but the governing bodies have now asked for another month.
“We hope to have them as soon as possible,” Tommasi, a candidate in the last round of elections which returned no winner, told ANSA.
“It’s not just down to us though. The purpose of today’s meeting was the election, we want to understand if there’s any intention to call one.
“At the moment it seems not, and we need to understand why that is. Unfortunately we’re still here talking about this story when we should be discussing something else.”
It has even been suggested that UEFA and FIFA could be asked to step in and force a new vote.
“The last thing our movement needs is a legal controversy, but I think we should proceed as soon as possible to the rebuilding of the FIGC.”
