The dangers of walking off amid racist abuse have emerged after Casale were awarded a 3-0 defeat against Pro Patria in the youth league.
Casale hit the headlines last week when the team walked off the pitch, as they claimed player Fabiano Ribeiro had punched opponent Luca Paganini in retaliation for a racist insult.
Ribeiro was sent off for the reaction and his teammates went with him in protest, but it later emerged that none of the players or officials had heard the racist insult in question.
Unable to ‘prove’ the racist incident, Casale were penalised for abandoning the game with a 3-0 defeat and a fine of €500.
Ribeiro has been given a one-match ban for the reaction foul.
It was the senior Pro Patria side that saw its friendly game abandoned when Kevin-Prince Boateng and his Milan teammates walked off amid persistent racist abuse from a small group of fans.
