“There was a lot of speculation over the line-up, but as you saw, we are showing absolute respect for this tournament, this game and we want to go as far as possible. We’ll think about the derby from tomorrow,” Tare told Sky Sport Italia ahead of Sunday’s Rome Derby in Serie A.
“I think we are at a good stage of the project right now and will try to improve the squad for next season.
“Bastos is in the stands tonight, Wallace wasn’t even called up, so we know the squad is strong and has many options. The most important thing is dealing with all these options and Simone Inzaghi has always kept the concentration and determination levels high throughout the team.”
Inzaghi’s future has been the subject of speculation too, with reports of interest from Napoli and Juventus.
“We are talking about a great project at Lazio. It’s part of the job to see other clubs praise our Coach, but he has a long contract and we locked him down well. Everywhere he turns, he can see only me and (President Claudio) Lotito!”
Tare was asked if Luis Nani will remain after his loan spell, seeing as he has barely featured.
“We talked together a few weeks ago. Our admiration for Nani is strong. He was unlucky, as during the best period of the season, he was missing due to injuries.
“He also has some players ahead of him that are very difficult to overcome. At the end of the season, hoping we have achieved something important, we’ll sit down and discuss the possibility of him staying.”
