“I never realised my long-standing dream to play in Italy, but at least I got here as a Coach. I ended my career at City and on one of the last days Mancini asked me what I intended to do the next year.
“Perhaps it wasn’t the moment, my mind wasn’t in the right place at that time, but I turned down the chance to stay and become his assistant, albeit with great thanks for having thought of me.
“I went to Corinthians and Roberto called me again. At that point I realised it was the right moment, so I got on the plane and arrived in Milan.
“When you go from being a player to a Coach, your attitude and thoughts change. Mancini has international experience, he won the Premier League – which for a manager is the top prize – and the FA Cup. He seems much more relaxed in his daily work now too.
“I am happy at Inter, I have a good rapport with the club, which is very well-organised, and with Javier Zanetti.
“Mauro Icardi scores a lot and is still young, so is learning a lot. I already knew Rodrigo Palacio, a professor who trains so much and always knows where to go on the pitch.
“Another very strong player is Marcelo Brozovic, who is only 22 and already great. In some moments he makes mistakes too, as is only normal for one so young.”
Which player would Sylvinho like to see at Inter?
“Oh that’s easy, Lionel Messi! He trains like all the others, but he is a genius, a pure talent, one of the best players of all time.”
