“We’re running behind in terms of pre-season preparation, but are trying to do our best with what we currently have at our disposal,” said Stroppa in his press conference.
“We are all eager to start on the right foot and give our best in the first game. I’ll keep my thoughts on the starting XI until the last day. We’ll be missing some players, but the general idea and approach to football will remain the same.
“Genoa are in a similar position to us, as they too are still in the rebuilding phase. Rolando Maran was a member of Nedo Sonetti’s staff when I was playing for Brescia, so he is a friend and a fine coach. We both know in these situations, the side that makes the fewest mistakes will get the points.
“Having said that, our mentality will not change from the Serie B campaign. We want to build a competitive squad, I’m happy with the players who have arrived, but it takes time to create an identity. I hope those players with experience working with me will help the newcomers to settle as quickly as possible.”
