Roma will reportedly offer Kevin Strootman a new contract after he returns from injury in February.

The Netherlands international hasn’t played for the Giallorossi since January after undergoing a third knee operation.

Il Tempo writes today that the capital club are planning on offering a new contract to the midfielder, whose current deal runs out in 2018.

The Lupi are believed to have opened talks with his agent Chiel Dekker in the last few weeks, during which the club stated their intention to extend the 25-year-old’s deal by two years.

However, Strootman reportedly replied that he will happily sign a new deal, but only once he is integrated back into the first team.

The central midfielder is expected to begin his recovery by playing some introductory games for the youth team at the start of February.
