Andrea Stramaccioni was impressed with Inter’s draw with Roma considering the absentees. “It was the right result.”
The Nerazzurri were without stars like Diego Milito, Antonio Cassano, Philippe Coutinho, Walter Samuel and Ricky Alvarez for tonight’s 1-1 draw.
“Roma’s potential on home turf is huge, both because of Coach Zdenek Zeman and the quality of the players,” said Stramaccioni.
“They started out very strong and put us under real pressure in the first 20 minutes. After the break I saw a good Inter and I think the draw was the right result. We felt the absence of some of our players in attack.”
Marko Livaja received his first Serie A start and hit the woodwork, but Esteban Cambiasso was surprisingly benched.
“I opted for two midfielders who could run more, as we needed pace to challenge the Roma central midfielders. Cambiasso is an important player for us, but for this game I made other choices.
“Livaja put in a great performance and was about to score a spectacular goal.”
Stramaccioni was asked to comment on Galatasaray’s announcement they have reached an agreement with Wesley Sneijder.
“For the good of Wes and Inter, the important thing is for this soap opera to end.”
