Andrea Stramaccioni believes Udinese’s 2-1 victory away to Empoli was “a huge achievement.”
It was decided by a Silvan Widmer cross-shot that looped in off the inside of the far post, putting the Friulani above Inter and Milan in the table.
“This was a very important game, as we knew Empoli were to be feared on home turf,” Coach Stramaccioni told Sky Sport Italia.

“This was a very important game, as we knew Empoli were to be feared on home turf,” Coach Stramaccioni told Sky Sport Italia.
“It was a head-to-head for position and taking into account the 120 minutes we played against Napoli in the Coppa Italia on Thursday, it was even more difficult.
“This victory is a huge achievement, especially as we were down to 10 men for much of the second half. We are unlucky with referees, as Danilo got the ball with his shoulder, the red card was debatable and we were denied a penalty. We are the only team who haven’t received a penalty this season.
“Widmer’s goal? It’s true, he confessed that he wasn’t trying to aim at the goal! With all due respect for him, nobody would’ve believed him if he’d said otherwise…”
