Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha took the blame for RB Salzburg’s second goal and felt “that changed everything” in their Europa League collapse.
The Biancocelesti had won the first leg of this quarter-final 4-2 and were 1-0 up on the night in Austria, but crumbled to lose 4-1.
“The lads did everything right, it was my mistake on the second goal and that changed everything that happened afterwards,” Strakosha told Lazio Style Channel.

“It’s really disappointing, as we didn’t deserve to go out like that. We conceded the equaliser straight after taking the lead and perhaps got a little scared. At that point, we just stopped.
“It was my mistake for the second goal and from there it was a black-out where we conceded three in four minutes.”
Lazio have no time to dwell on missed opportunities, as on Sunday evening there’s a head-to-head showdown with city rivals Roma for third place – and a spot in next season’s Champions League.
“They are very motivated after reaching the semi-final, but we are more than them, because we didn’t deserve to go out. A win in the derby would give us the push we need going forward.”
