Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa is in negotiations for a loan to Sporting Lisbon, but it’s reported they won’t pay even a fraction of his Inter salary.
Agent Wagner Ribeiro confirmed yesterday that the two clubs were in talks.
However, according to Portuguese paper Record and La Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy, the situation has ground to a halt.
This is because Sporting are not prepared to pay even half of Gabigol’s €2.7m salary during his time in Lisbon.
Inter would be content to let Sporting CP shell out just €1m, but even that is beyond the limits set by President Bruno de Carvalho, who only wants to pay performance-related bonuses.
The Nerazzurri paid €29.5m to sign Gabigol from Santos last summer, but he didn’t manage a single Serie A start.
