Luciano Spalletti tried to ‘mislead’ journalists on Friday, driving to a meeting with Aurelio De Laurentiis wearing a mask and according to multiple sources in Itay, the Italian tactician has been offered a new two-year deal.
Spalletti met De Laurentiis and CEO Andrea Chiavelli for dinner on Friday. It took place at a renowned restaurant in Naples’ city centre and according to Gazzetta and Corriere dello Sport, ADL offered the Partenopei boss a new two-year deal.
Spalletti joked with journalists minutes before the meeting, leaving Castel Volturno with a ski mask and telling Sky Sport’s reporters outside the gates of Napoli’s training centre: ‘We’ll mislead you.’
Napoli have recently activated a clause to extend Spalletti’s contract until 2024, but the Serie A champions want to plan a long-term future with the Tuscan tactician, who could sign a new contract until 2025 with a higher salary than the current €2.8m per season.
During the meeting, Spalletti was informed about the club’s plans for the future, including the potential stay of stars such as Victor Osimhen, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Kim-Min jae and the replacement for sporting director Cristiano Gintoli who is in talks with Juventus and did not attend the meeting.
