Paulo Sousa admits “Borja Valero is fundamental” for Fiorentina and rues the injury problems in their 1-0 win over Chievo.
Carlos Sanchez scored the only goal, but was one of three players forced off the field by injury, along with Matias Vecino and Ciprian Tatarusanu.
“The forced changes meant we were unable to freshen up the squad in the areas we needed to,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

“The forced changes meant we were unable to freshen up the squad in the areas we needed to,” the Coach told Rai Sport.
“We already knew of the difficulties involved in facing Chievo after last season. There were some tough tackles, but we showed the right character and took home three deserved points.
“Luca Lezzerini did well in goal and I am happy with the way he has matured over the last year.”
Borja Valero was injured for the 2-1 defeat to Juventus, but returned this evening.
“He is fundamental for Fiorentina, as he knows the spaces, the timing and steps up when the team needs him to. You can see everyone seeks him out for passes. He had a temperature last night, but wanted to be here for us.”
Nikola Kalinic has been repeatedly linked with a move to Napoli.
“He’s a great player who had an extraordinary season. Serie A allows him to play at a high level and the other teams noticed him. I’d been tracking him for many years and many Coaches would love to work with him.”
