Paulo Sousa was “both angry and disappointed” after Fiorentina’s Coppa Italia exit at the hands of Carpi.
The Viola had been hoping to win the trophy this season, but were beaten 1-0 on home turf in the Round of 16.
“I am both angry and disappointed,” the Coach told reporters.
“This was not a result I was thinking of, but when you play in a competition like this then it can happen.

“It was not a good night, but we created a great deal and just couldn’t get the ball in the net. The team tried to resolve the game by itself with individual moments of skill and we got stretched out, allowing our opponents to hurt us on the counter-attack.
“We paid a heavy price for that approach.”
Now Carpi will face Sampdoria or Milan in the quarter-finals.
