Sampdoria's Antonio Romei opens on the possibility of a Roberto Soriano sale but not to the signing of Napoli's Ivan Strinic.

As the right-hand-man of President Massimo Ferrero, Romei is directly involved in the Blucerchiati's transfer market operations, which he explained to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli in detail.

“The priorities we're working on these days involve a central defender and a left-back,” he said. “In terms of our attack we're pretty well covered, we're not looking for a striker.

“Strinic? Napoli said he is absolutely not for sale, so there's no negotiation in place.

“We don't want to sell anyone, we won't tear the squad apart, our policy is to bring out the value in our young players and turn them into champions."

Romei then discussed one of Sampdoria's most coveted players, Soriano, who has been a target at varying points for Napoli, Roma, Inter and Milan.

“We have no negotiations regarding Soriano. The player has a buy-out clause, this is well-known.

“If somebody comes and pays it, and the player wants to leave, then we have no instruments to defend ourselves. But as far as we're concerned the player is not at all on the market.

“For the moment [Juan] Zuniga is not in our plans, we have other objectives now. But in football you should never say never.

“We're bringing in a reinforcement like Ricky Alvarez. He passed his medicals, which were necessary because he had some trouble in the past.

“In the space of a few days we'll have a clear and well-defined picture of the situation, but he's a player we're extremely interested in. In brief, we're making the matter more concrete.”
