Former Sampdoria midfielder Srecko Katanec has been named as the national boss of Slovenia for the second time.

The 49-year-old, who spent five years at Doria before retiring in 1994, replaces Slavisa Stojanovic after he resigned.

The 49-year-old, who spent five years at Doria before retiring in 1994, replaces Slavisa Stojanovic after he resigned.

Katanec led Slovenia to Euro 2000 and the 2002 World Cup Finals before leaving for spells with Olympiacos, Macedonia and the UAE.
