Giovanni Simeone, the son of Diego, admits he “went loco” after hearing Genoa wanted him and can’t wait to start in Serie A.
The 21-year-old is flying out to begin his Italian adventure today and spoke to the Secolo XIX newspaper.
He arrives from River Plate for €2.5m plus a percentage of any future transfer.
“I decided to go to Europe, as that is my dream. When I was told that Pescara were after me, I was enchanted. When they told me Genoa wanted me, I went loco!

“After the loan spell at Banfield, I didn’t receive any calls from River for two weeks. Gallardo told me I’d be his sixth choice striker, so it really was not positive for me to remain at River.”
Simeone’s father is the Coach of Atletico Madrid, who also played in Italy with Lazio and Inter.
