The Serbian FA confirmed Sinisa Mihajlovic is heading to Sampdoria. “I’m not optimistic on his chances of staying with us.”

Mihajlovic has been linked with the job for several days, as Delio Rossi was sacked on Monday evening and a caretaker manager put in his place.

He is still under contract with the Serbian national side, but ought to be freed after two friendlies this month.

“In a few days we will have a clearer idea of the situation,” Serbian Federation President Tomislav Karadzic was quoted as saying in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I would like him to remain at the helm of our national team, but even if I haven’t spoken to Sampdoria President Edoardo Garrone, I am not optimistic on Sinisa’s chances of staying with us.”

Mihajlovic’s final friendly test would be on Tuesday, so he’d be free to take over at Samp from Wednesday.
