The former Sassuolo star arrived last summer and has been through a difficult first season at San Siro, limited by injuries and now the forced break in Serie A due to the coronavirus emergency.

But the Italy international has claimed that he ‘struggles’ to focus on football but tries to keep in shape at home.

“Football is my life, but now I struggle to think about it,” Sensi told La Repubblica. “Resuming play is not the priority, we also talk about it between teammates in the chats.

“We are citizens like all the others, we think of those who are ill and those who die. About the doctors and nurses on the front line.”

Despite being limited to 12 appearances for the Nerazzurri because of injuries, the 24-year-old has been impressive during his first season at San Siro and revealed that coach Antonio Conte is less rigid than it seems.

“I have an excellent relationship with Conte, he’s more playful thank you might think. And very direct, which I appreciate.

“With some of us, myself included, he has a paternal attitude. I’m recovered from the injuries, I’m ready, or I would be, rather.

“The training programme is similar to what we do at Pinetina, we keep our heart rate high. The difference is the ball, which I never touch. Some of my teammates try to play at home. I don’t like it, it doesn’t make sense.”

The former Neroverdi man has claimed Christian Eriksen’s arrival has spurred him on to work harder for a place in the side and revealed that the ‘competition’ is only healthy.

“No, a great team must have competition for each position. Christian har played at high levels, he has given us and will give us a big hand,” Sensi added. “I would like to improve my vision, that quick glance that allows you to understand the play and make the right move.

“It’s something that is difficult to train, but I’m working on it. As a child, I wanted to play in goal and didn’t support any team.

“I followed the Argentine and Brazilian Leagues because of the technique. Then my idol became Xavi, I studied his videos.

“When they compare me to him, I get excited, without getting too confident. Now, my heart is only beating for Inter. I dream of winning with the Nerazzurri, who are my home, and to play in Euro 2021.”
