Atalanta’s Ezequiel Schelotto wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to play alongside idol Javier Zanetti at Inter next season.
“It’s still too early to talk about the transfer market,” the midfielder, who has been included in Italy’s 32-man Euro 2012 squad, told the Corriere della Sera.
“I’m happy in Bergamo and I still have three years left on my contract, even if it is clear that all players would want to join the big clubs and fight for trophies.
“I have an idol and that is Zanetti. He grew up at Banfield, like me, and then he moved to Italy. There are similarities.
“He’s also a friend and it would be nice to follow in his footsteps and play for Inter. But this is just my second season in Serie A…”
Schelotto, actually born in Argentina, is a former Italian Under-21 international who moved to Atalanta in the summer after loan spells at Cesena and Catania.
