New Palermo Coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto feels “lucky” to have Franco Vazquez.

The Argentinian tactician has taken over the Rosanero following the dismissal of Davide Ballardini, and will take charge of a game at Renzo Barbera for the first time when Udinese visit this weekend.

“We didn’t play a good game against Genoa,” Schelotto told TyC Sports, having made his debut on the bench for the 4-0 defeat.

“For now I only know a few players, but I’ve always known Palermo for [Javier] Pastore, [Edinson] Cavan and [Abel] Hernandez, and more recently Franco Vazquez.

“He [Vazquez] has made a difference in recent years, and has to be considered one of the best, you’re lucky if you have him in your team.

“We’ve worked well this week, let’s see how it goes against Udinese. We’ve been working on trying to get our mentality across to the team.

“We want to do a great job and help Palermo achieve safety. I chose Palermo for the opportunity to Coach in Serie A, one of the best Leagues in the world.

“I can’t wait to face Juventus, Milan and Inter. It’s an experience which will enrich me a lot.”
