Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri shoots down rumours of a rift with Aurelio De Laurentiis – “I feel part of this family”.
The tactician’s contract has been extended, but it was reported that a failure to increase his salary had left the former Empoli boss unhappy.
However, it now appears that the Coach has been given better terms.
“I’m at Filmauro with the President, who has treated me as one of his family,” Sarri clarified on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
“I really feel part of this family, and he offered me a contract which is on the right level in every respect, which he wasn’t required to do because I already had one.
“He’s made a very important gesture, I’m happy because he’s recognised what we’ve done. If I’ve arrived at this level then I owe it to him for choosing me.”
The Vesuviani finished second in Serie A this season, granting them direct entry to the Champions League group stages.
“It still sounds strange, I still find it hard to digest. We hope to approach it calmly, but we’ll see what the effect is when we hear that anthem in our stadium…”
