Riccardo Saponara admits he has to consider his next career step very carefully. “It’ll be my last chance and I need the right project.”
The Empoli creative midfielder had an unsuccessful spell at Milan, failing to score a single goal, but rediscovered his form once he returned to the Stadio Castellani.
“I don’t know if I’ll stay in Italy or go abroad. All I know is that it’ll be my last chance,” Saponara told Radio Lady.

“I don’t know if I’ll stay in Italy or go abroad. All I know is that it’ll be my last chance,” Saponara told Radio Lady.
“I reached the top level once before and there won’t be another opportunity if I don’t do well this time round.
“Therefore I have to choose the right project for me. I’d prefer to stay in Italy, but if a better offer came from abroad then I’d consider it.”
Despite his remarkable form for Empoli, Saponara has still not received a senior Italy call-up.
“It is well known that I do better as a trequartista and my role does not fit the tactical credo of Coach Antonio Conte. I’ve had to accept that, even if I know my moment will come.”
