Sporting director Walter Sabatini believes Roma can finish second, but “we have to be careful with Chievo”.

The Giallorossi are guaranteed to finish at least third this season, but are chasing down Napoli for second, which grants automatic entry to the Champions League group stages.

“I think in football, behaviour is important,” Sabatini told reporters at an event in Perugia.

“For example, the fact that Torino have renamed the stadium after the Grande Torino. I think that kind of thing is something that's off the pitch, but will mean the Granata want to do as well as possible against Napoli, and they’ll try to get a result.

“We have to be careful with Chievo though, they’re a tricky team as they’ve been showing all year.

“Our football is good and these last two matches will be addressed with maximum effort from everyone.

“Now we have a game on Sunday where we know only one result will do. The team has a strong belief in itself, we want to win these remaining two games.

“It’s a hard-working group that can produce a result which is very important for Roma and for our future.”

The Giallorossi are unbeaten in 15 League matches, and have been transformed since Luciano Spalletti replaced Rudi Garcia on the bench in January.

“I knew the team had quality, and I was still convinced of that after 10 games even though the results weren’t great.

“I could see a fervour on the pitch and quality in the methods that gave me very strong hope.”
