Napoli full-back Mario Rui says they deserved to win the Scudetto “for how we played” but admits “we’re lacking in other things”.
While the Partenopei can still mathematically win the Scudetto, even defeat for Juventus in the final two games wouldn’t necessarily be enough as it would take a goal difference swing of 17.
“Everyone saw that we gave our best,” Rui told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“Everyone saw that we gave our best,” Rui told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
“There’s also some regret about points dropped and wins missed. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to reach our dream, but we’ll keep going and try to get there next year.
“Did we deserve the Scudetto? For how we played and what we showed every Sunday, yes. We play the best football, but we’re lacking in other things.
“Now we have two important games to close the season well. We can get a record points total in Napoli history and give a final joy to the fans who always supported us.
“This team gets better every year and we certainly can’t stop now. There is a foundation there and room for improvement.
“This season was very important, it made us grow. Next year we’ll be even more prepared.
“Maurizio Sarri’s future? We’ve been used to this style of play for years, getting consistency in that regard would be important.”
The Portuguese was asked if they lost the Scudetto with the defeat at Fiorentina.
“[Kalidou] Koulibaly’s red card really hit us. It shouldn’t happen, because we’re professionals, but it definitely affected us.”
