There is a consensus that the three won't make the final 23-man squad for Euro 2016, which is due to be announced tonight.
However, national teams have the option of bringing up to three reserve players, who can be called up any time before the team's debut game in replacement of a potential last-minute injury.
According to Panorama, Coach Antonio Conte is looking to bring Rugani, Zappacosta and Benassi.
While these players traditionally return home after the team's first game, Conte asked for them to stay until the end of Euro 2016 to get some experience of how international tournaments work.
Torino, who own Benassi and Zappacosta, had no problem with this idea. Juventus are usually more jealous of their players and they famously refused to let Leonardo Bonucci take part in one of Conte's training camps.
However, it appears that they raised no objections to Rugani staying longer, suggesting an easing up in the tension between the Bianconeri and the Italian Federation.
