Italy’s Under-21 European Championship begins against England and Fausto Rossi believes Marco Verratti can be the key.
The Azzurrini are in Group A with England, Norway and hosts Israel. Their first match against Stuart Pearce’s men is on Wednesday evening.
“We know England are a solid side, but we have the qualities to make life difficult for them and bring home three points,” said Brescia midfielder Rossi in today’s Press conference.
“It is very hot in Israel, so playing in the evening could give us a hand to play at our best. Our 4-4-2 system provides guarantees, as we are all accustomed to it and this tactic represents our identity.”
There are several players absent from the tournament due to the Confederations Cup, such as Stephan El Shaarawy, Mario Balotelli and Mattia De Sciglio, but PSG midfielder Verratti is in the squad.
“Verratti’s arrival can be the key for us, as he is a complete player. He always sees the game before anyone else and is on first name terms with the ball.”
