Giuseppe Rossi has moved closer to his comeback after he was given the green light to begin full training at new club Fiorentina.

“Got the OK from doc Steadman to train with my teammates,” the American-born Italian international said on Twitter this afternoon.

The striker hasn’t played a competitive game since he damaged knee ligaments in October 2011. He suffered a relapse to the same knee during training in April 2012.

The former Parma and Manchester United man joined the Viola in January from Spanish club Villarreal.

La Nazione suggested recently that Rossi could make the bench for Fiorentina’s game against Siena in Week 36.
