The Giallorossi winger impressed during a loan spell at Fiorentina in the second half of last season and has settled well in Rome, scoring five goals in 10 league games for the Giallorossi.
He faces tough competition for the award, mostly from Manchester City’s Yaya Toure, who is up for a fifth consecutive win.

The winner will be decided by votes from national Coaches or technical directors of the CAF national associations, with the awards gala taking place in Abuja, Nigeria on January 7.
