The Rossoneri have been attempting to convince the capital club to sell the defender all summer, with Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic keen to reunite with the youngster he worked with at Sampdoria.

The Giallorossi had been asking for €30m for the Italian Under-21 international, while the Diavolo seemed unwilling to move from their last offer of €25m.

However, Corriere dello Sport believes in the next week a deal will be agreed, with Roma lowering their asking price to €28m.

Despite their protestations, Milan would probably be willing to raise their offer slightly, meaning the two clubs could meet in the middle.

The newspaper explains the reasoning for the Lupi’s change of heart is the imminent arrivals of Mohamed Salah and Edin Dzeko respectively.

The combined cost of the two players is likely to be above €40m, so sporting director Walter Sabatini is seeking to balance the books.
