Alessio Romagnoli hopes Italy “can learn” from their 2-1 friendly win over Saudi Arabia, as they “thought at 2-0 it was all over.”
The Azzurri had gone 2-0 up through Mario Balotelli and Andrea Belotti, but gave away a goal through Davide Zappacosta’s error.
“We did well to control the ball, while our defensive movements were simpler because we largely held the initiative,” Romagnoli told Rai Sport.

“We are young, we’ve got to work together over time and improve together. We thought perhaps that at 2-0 it was all over, so we fell asleep and need to learn from this.
“It’s sad that we’re not going to the World Cup, but that is in the past and we’ve got to think about the future.
“Balotelli is a great player, he has immense potential, so if he continues like this and works hard, he can give us a big hand.”
