Roma have lost their appeal to have next week’s Coppa Italia Quarter-Final against Fiorentina moved to the Stadio Olimpico.

The match will go ahead as planned on January 16 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence.

The Quarter-Final is a one-off match and Roma maintained they should’ve been given home advantage, as they finished last season higher up the table than Fiorentina.

However, Roma lost their seeding when Lazio also reached this stage and played their game at the Olimpico.

There was to be no clash of nights, as Lazio already beat Catania 3-0 in their match on Tuesday, whereas Roma won’t use the stadium for the Coppa Italia until next week.

“The change of venue is an exception to the rule that establishes Roma’s right to play at home. This exception is provided for in the case of – and I quote the rules here – matches being played concurrently. Two matches played eight days apart are not concurrent.

“We chose to turn to the FIGC Court of Justice and ask them to explain the correct interpretation of the rules,” argued Giallorossi director Franco Baldini.

This evening, the Federal Court of Appeal rejected Roma’s proposal to switch venues, stating it was not within their jurisdiction to overturn the original decision.
