Roma have been fined €400,000 for suddenly cancelling their preseason training camp in Pinzolo.
Roma announced on Wednesday that they would be pulling out of the retreat due to ‘ongoing uncertainty’ over their start date for the new season, amidst speculation that they could replace Milan in the Europa League group stage.
As a result, the Giallorossi must pay a significant financial penalty and reimburse fans who had booked tickets to watch the team.

“We’re disappointed and surprised because the news rained on us suddenly after having received certainties and guarantees,” said Pinzolo mayor Michele Cereghini.
“Instead they phoned us first and then made that statement. We’d given our availability, working to make everything perfect.
“We’d been promoting the retreat for the last 2-3 weeks. Roma had everything in hand two or three weeks ago if they wanted to change their minds.
“The tourist board will decide whether to take legal action, but we’ll have to take some time out to understand whether camps for these great teams are viable without certainties.”
