Now RMC Sport in France claim that Manchester City have dived in with great determination to get the deal done quickly.
Their report maintains coach Guardiola rang Bennacer to convince him of the project, even if City are excluded from the Champions League for Financial Fair Play violations.
The same source also suggests there is a release clause in Bennacer’s contract worth €50m, which has now been confirmed by Calciomercato.com.
It’s possible that is simply the figure Milan would be prepared to accept for a sale, making a huge profit after just one year.
Bennacer is no stranger to England, as he spent time in the Arsenal youth academy and made just one senior substitute appearance for the club before his €1m sale to Empoli in 2017.
