Cagliari have reportedly decided to appoint Walter Zenga as the successor to Rolando Maran, handing Max Canzi the role as assistant.
The promotion as promised, but not the head coach role for Canzi, as the reserves coach had been linked with the job to succeed Maran at the helm.
Sky Sport Italia reports that President Tommaso Giulini has picked Zenga, who has previous spells at Catania, Palermo, Sampdoria and Crotone, as his new coach and the 59-year-old will be joined by Canzi.

Sky Sport Italia reports that President Tommaso Giulini has picked Zenga, who has previous spells at Catania, Palermo, Sampdoria and Crotone, as his new coach and the 59-year-old will be joined by Canzi.
The broadcaster has claimed that Cagliari wanted to protect the youth coach and not hand him an immediate debut in Serie A, therefore the patron decided to pair Zenga with Canzi.
Cagliari are currently 11th in Serie A after a run of 12 games without a win – including the elimination from the Coppa Italia against Inter.
