There are reports Napoli have agreed terms with Empoli to buy Mirko Valdifiori for €5m.
The move was in the works even before ex-Empoli Coach Maurizio Sarri was appointed at the Stadio San Paolo.
The two club Presidents, Aurelio De Laurentiis and Fabrizio Corsi, met this evening to discuss the situation.
According to Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, they have agreed the basic structure of a deal worth €5m.
The contract is expected to be until June 2019 for just €800,000 per season.

Valdifiori already expressed his joy at the idea of playing for Napoli and reuniting with Sarri.
However, Sport Italia also suggest his agent is putting the brakes on the deal because he is unhappy with a particular clause.
Torino are also strongly interested in signing Valdifiori.
Now 29, the midfielder in the Andrea Pirlo mould made his Italy debut in March.
He spent most of his career in the lower leagues with Cesena, Pavia and Legnano before joining Empoli in July 2008.
