Edy Reja gave Lazio a stark deadline. “If we don’t beat Livorno tomorrow, then we don’t deserve to be in Europe.”

The Biancocelesti visit the Stadio Picchi on Sunday at 14.00 UK time (13.00 GMT), click here for a match preview.

“It is our duty to take the initiative and try to win,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Every game is decisive and our 3-3 draw with Torino had a big impact on our race for the top spots. We still have another opportunity to catch the teams ahead of us, but three points are obligatory.

“If we don’t beat Livorno tomorrow, then we don’t deserve to be in Europe. Qualifying would be hugely satisfying and an unhoped for result considering the campaign.

“Does my future depend on Europe? We’ve already talked about this, the project will continue regardless of European qualification. I’ve already told the club my intentions.”

Federico Marchetti, Miroslav Klose and Abdoulay Konko are ruled out again, while Giuseppe Biava is carrying a knock.

“I want to use a three-man midfield, then we’ll see, but a lot depends on whether Biava recovers. Against Torino we made individual errors and lacked concentration, as their first two goals were avoidable,” continued Reja.

“Livorno have to win in order to stay in Serie A, so both teams are highly motivated. We are confident because we know the result is within our grasp.”
