Napoli striker Giacomo Raspadori insists he’s ready to play with Victor Osimhen when the Nigeria international returns to action and praises coach Rudi Garcia: ‘He’s given me a lot.’

Raspadori has replaced Osimhen as Napoli’s centre forward since the Nigerian suffered a muscle injury while on international duty in October.

“Consistency is important, it brings more self-esteem and helps me perform at my best. When a striker scores consistently, it increases self-confidence; consistency is key,” the Italian striker said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“Garcia has given me a lot, especially self-esteem. I’ve played in different positions and always tried to help the team.”

The French tactician said Osimhen would return to training tomorrow, although he won’t be available against Union Berlin. So, would Raspadori be ready to partner Osi in attack once the Nigerian returns to action?

“This is a question for the coach, I am always available for the team,” the Italian striker replied.

“One of our strengths is that everybody is willing to help and give his contribution. If we all work hard daily, we know we’ll have a chance.

“We can always improve, but we must keep this mentality,” continued Raspadori.

“We could have scored more goals in the last few games. We tend to create many goal-scoring opportunities and we must have the determination to make the most of our characteristics.”

Napoli host Union Berlin at the Stadio Maradona on Wednesday after beating the Germans 1-0 away two weeks ago, thanks to a goal from Raspadori.

“It will be important to find different passing lines against a team that defends deep like Union,” said the striker.

“It will be key to moving as a unit and do not give points of reference. There will be different moments, we expect a tough game, but the approach will be crucial.”
