Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia says Nerazzurri will aim for Europe ‘as long as it’s mathematically possible’.
The Beneamata face Milan in the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday evening, with a defeat for either side likely to end their European ambitions.
“As long as it’s mathematically possible, we must aim for the Europa League,” Ranocchia told reporters at Inter’s training ground.
“The Coach [Roberto Mancini] gives us that message every day, and we must continue in the vein we did at Verona.

“As long as it’s mathematically possible, we must aim for the Europa League,” Ranocchia told reporters at Inter’s training ground.
“The Coach [Roberto Mancini] gives us that message every day, and we must continue in the vein we did at Verona.
“The derby is the derby, and it’s special for everyone, even more so for me because I’ve been here for so many years.
“This game stirs strong emotions, there will be a lot of fans there, so winning would be something special and we want to do it.
“Playing the derby at home is always exciting for everyone. We want to bring some joy to the fans after a turbulent period, and the derby is always a good opportunity to do that.
“We’re confident, and we’ve worked well this week. Verona was key to approach the derby with optimism and a will to win.
“The derby is not a game to be played, it’s a game to be won.”
While Inter have endured a torrid season, the captain is sure that they’ll be back to their best next term.
“We hope the table next year will tell a different story, the gaffer knows what it takes to get back to winning.
"I’m convinced that, starting from pre-season, the Coach will do everything to take this club back to where it deserves to be.”
